There are a lot of animal picture sites but this one is pretty funny. I don't quite get the cheezburger reference but it is funny nevertheless. Thanks to Chris for showing me the site.

Happy Birthday Bob

Today is Bob Dylan's birthday. Some of you may be turned off by the voice-I know, I know, but more important is the message that voice brings forth. So take a minute to reflect and pay tribute to America's greatest self-described "song and dance man."

Come gather 'round people
Wherever you roam
And admit that the waters
Around you have grown
And accept it that soon
You'll be drenched to the bone.
If your time to you
Is worth savin'
Then you better start swimmin'
Or you'll sink like a stone
For the times they are a-changin'.

Come writers and critics
Who prophesize with your pen
And keep your eyes wide
The chance won't come again
And don't speak too soon
For the wheel's still in spin
And there's no tellin' who
That it's namin'.
For the loser now
Will be later to win
For the times they are a-changin'.

Come senators, congressmen
Please heed the call
Don't stand in the doorway
Don't block up the hall
For he that gets hurt
Will be he who has stalled
There's a battle outside
And it is ragin'.
It'll soon shake your windows
And rattle your walls
For the times they are a-changin'.

Come mothers and fathers
Throughout the land
And don't criticize
What you can't understand
Your sons and your daughters
Are beyond your command
Your old road is
Rapidly agin'.
Please get out of the new one
If you can't lend your hand
For the times they are a-changin'.

The line it is drawn
The curse it is cast
The slow one now
Will later be fast
As the present now
Will later be past
The order is
Rapidly fadin'.
And the first one now
Will later be last
For the times they are a-changin'.

Meeting the neighbors BITES!

Nancy and I walked over to meet our new neighbors late Saturday afternoon. They have a dog—a pit bull mix named Nutmeg. Everything seemed fine, the dog approached nancy and sniffed her hand, she was wagging her tail and then without warning Nutmeg decided to take a closer look at nancy's face and bit it. It happened in a split second. I immediately turned around to look at nancy and it was clear that she had been bitten badly. The skin beneath her right eye, where "bags" reside, was hanging down, exposing the fatty tissue that lies underneath. We immedately went to the emergency room and got Nancy patched up. Luckily the doctor on call is well-known in the area as one of the best facial surgeons around. Nancy has stitches on her top right eyelid and below the right eye in two directions. She also has a puncture wound in her left cheek that got stitched up.

We felt really bad for the neighbors and for Nutmeg as it was their first day in the new house and we know they were mortified about what happened. We wanted to make sure that nothing happens to Nutmeg as that would be the real tragedy but the neighbors are going to have to be careful in the future and I think it would be a good idea for them to get a muzzle.

For those of you who have the stomach I will post an image of Nancy's eye. Scroll down. Waaaaaaaay down. More to come on this story....

UPDATE: Not so new Amazon - WTF !?!

It gets better. I took another look at the shots of the damaged camera - it isn't even the right camera! This is the 630. I ordered the 700 ! (I had to enhance the image to make it clearer).

I called Amazon and reported what had apparently happened. See, they use vendors who then ship the materials as Amazon.com. Looks like someone there did a little switch-a-roo and put an old damaged 630 into the box of a new 700. Look at the pics from the "New Camera "post and compare.

I guess we all need to remember Amazon.com is merely a ditribution center - not an actual store.

The good news is this. Just got this e-mai from Amazon:

I have placed a new order for the Canon PowerShot SD700
IS 6MP Digital Elph Camera with 4x Image Stabilized Zoom. There is
no charge for this replacement.

Estimated Delivery Date: May 4th

Not so new Amazon - WTF !?!

So I got my new camera. New? I doubt it.

The box looked fine, everything looked brand new but when i opened the box and looked at the camera it was dented, and scrtached all over. There was even a piece buckling off of it. I made a couple of calls to Amazon.com. They have this neat new feature where you type in your phone number and customer service calls you - odd. You still wait but it was kind of neat. Anyway they are sending me (supposedly) another camera to replace this one and are paying for shipping. It is just really odd as it looks like someobody returned this camera and then it was repackaged and sent to me. I expect crap like that to happen on EBay but not on Amazon. Well I'll let you know how this ends up.

For the few minutes I looked at the camera I liked it a lot. The viewfinder is almost as big as the camera-it will be a blast to use. Now all I need to find is a non-leather case to protect it. Maybe something neoprene or a skin like those they sell for IPods.

New Camera

I have had my Sony DSC F717 for 5 or 6 years now and I have finally decided to get a smaller digital camera for everyday use. The Sony is 5 megapixels but the optics and the lens are great and I use it all the time for my cover designs. This new camera is small enough to use and while not a big leap in megapixels (this has 6.0) it is well known for really good optics and for taking great pictures for a compact camera. So what did i get? I got a Canon Digital Elph SD700 IS.

See the pictures below. It is tiny!

Birthdays!

Nancy and i traveled down to NYC the weekend of April 13 to celebrate her birthday (pictures above). We decided to take the bus down and get down there stress-free (the trip back was a little harrowing with the noreaster but I was still happy to not have to drive through wind, rain, and snow). We spent some time with family and friends and were able to enjoy a nice weekend of Vegan dining and shopping I( didn't make a blog entry but i am now in my fourth week of eating vegetarian). We ate at Blossom, (where we saw Ethan Hawke-he should stop talking so much and eat his food-what idiot cheats on Uma anyway? dumbass) Red Bamboo Soul Café and picked up dessert at Babycakes. Nancy has links to these places on her blog.

My mom made vegan brownies to mark the occasion (no she is not saying "hey fuckin vegan brownies with a NY accent in that picture).

It was good eating and good times.

There was ANOTHER birthday that weekend too (quite literally). Sophie Rotstein was born on April 13, 2007 to proud parents David and Simone. Congrats to Dave and Simone! What good timing - she decided to wait for Uncle Scott to come down to the city for her grand entrance into the world ;-). We ran into Henry and Emily Mahon at the hospital as well as Simone's mom and Fred. It was nice to see everybody.

I was afraid to take the pics with a flash so I used the infrared mode and then converted them to black and whites. They are a bit noisy but I think they came out okay anyway.
